Fundraising

 In summer 2025, several local playgroups closed their doors, including Park Road Playgroup (Sale), Raglan Road Playgroup (Sale), and Butterflies Playgroup on Harboro Road. We’ve also recently learned that The Hidden Trust (The Hideaway) in Partington is due to close.

This is devastating. These aren’t just buildings; they’re safe spaces for children, lifelines for parents, and the heart of our communities. Yet, one by one, they’re disappearing because of a lack of funding and relentless financial pressure.

At 4 Cheeky Monkeys, we’ve been feeling the strain too. Last year, we submitted numerous funding applications, all of which have been rejected. Attendance was low, costs keep rising, and we’re struggling to keep things running. We’ve jumped through every hoop funders have asked of us, even adding extra directors, and yet it still hasn’t been enough.

The reality is tough: Lesley has gone two months without wages, and I’m working entirely in a voluntary role. Thanks to the generosity of Mark Tarry at Haven Financial Planning, we’ve been able to make some essential repairs (including a couple of broken light fixtures and a leaking hot water heater) that will keep our building safe and usable this year. We are so incredibly grateful for that support.

Despite the challenges, our community has never let us down. To those who attend our sessions, buy raffle tickets, join our events, and show up week after week, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Your support has helped create something truly special… a warm, welcoming, and supportive space where children can thrive and families can connect.

We’re desperate to keep the doors of 4 Cheeky Monkeys open, but our future is uncertain.
